Getting the Message

You could say Hope Lutheran Church stepped out in faith. After noticing an increase in the Hispanic population in the city, the church wanted to reach out in a more noticeable way. A functional, but dated, static lettered sign served as the church’s communication method to the public. After consideration, the church, led by Pastor Michael Awe, decided to move forward by purchasing a digital display to spread their message.

A previously earmarked donation to the church for property renovations, paired with a small grant from the city of South Sioux City, made the update possible. Pastor Awe reached out to Ace Signs, a local sign company, to outfit them with something digital and more visible from the main road in town, Dakota Avenue.

“I have pastored the church for a couple of years and got to look at our outreach with fresh eyes,” said Pastor Awe. “The church agreed we needed to update our signage so we turned to Ace Signs. Since its installation, the display started working immediately! We’ve had people stop by to ask what we have to offer. We run photos, announcements, our contact and social information. This has positively helped and changed the church.”

“The display is a way to accomplish our mission to spread the Gospel,” Pastor Awe explained. “In today’s world, you need lights, pictures — something more than words — to catch your eye and draw you in. This enhances the Word of Jesus Christ.”

From ESL classes to fellowship meals, the church is reaching out with many ways to build community. Their digital display is just one method used to effectively share their Message.
