When someone takes you out to the ballgame in 2023, you’re going to have very good odds that Daktronics displays will be visible from the moment you arrive at a ballpark to the moment you sit down in your seat to watch America’s favorite pastime. From the big leagues to the college and university level, and even high schools and your local parks department, our company has helped numerous venues prepare for this season with new technology. But for this post, we’re going to focus on the minor leagues and the BIG things they have in store for their fans.

When I say BIG things, I’m talking about the Albuquerque Isotopes debuting the third largest video display in MiLB and the Memphis Redbirds entertaining their fans with the fifth largest display in the league. Also, the South Bend Cubs feature one of the largest displays in the Midwest League in 2023.

What’s the plan with these huge displays? It’s simple. More.

More video. More stats. More graphics and animations. More ROI for sponsors. But mainly, more opportunities to keep fans entertained and informed when they attend a baseball game in person.

For reference, the Isotopes display at Rio Grande Credit Union Field in New Mexico is 35 feet high by 108 feet wide while the Redbirds display at AutoZone Park in Tennessee is a 60-foot by 60-foot square-shaped display. And the Cubs display at Four Winds Field in Indiana measures 38.5 feet high by 75.5 feet wide.

But wait, those are only three of the MiLB teams we’ve worked with this year. Yes, there are more! Like the Somerset Patriots and their pyramid-style outfield display configuration. A large main display on the bottom with a middle-sized display above it and a smaller display on top. The best part about this layout is that content can be seamlessly spread across all three displays!

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and the Rochester Red Wings also debuted new outfield video displays from Daktronics. At Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Kernels display measures 30 feet high by 72 feet wide. And at Innovative Field, the Red Wings display measures 34.5 feet high by 60 feet wide.

Whew, that’s a list of six MiLB main video board installations for 2023 season and I haven’t even mentioned the upcoming installations for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and the Wisconsin Woodchucks! We’ll save a little information on those displays until installation is complete and they are actively entertaining fans this year.

Remember, if you’re heading out to the ballgame, look for those Daktronics displays and enjoy the game!
