Video: How to get video to the display with Tera Term®, bypass Venus 7000
Topic
Use a VIP-4500 to play video on a display without a Venus 7000
Initial configuration and property edits of the VIP 4500 are typically accomplished using Venus 7000 software. Generally, this approach is the easiest and most practical. However, if a 7000 is not available, use Tera Term or the front panel buttons.
Tera Term® provides another method for entering the same parameters and offers the GC (Get Configuration) command, which produces a readout of current settings and is mostly used for troubleshooting.
Environment
- Product: VLink or VIP-4500, VIP-4400
- Component: Tera Term®
- Control System: Video
Steps
Using Tera Term®
- Using a serial cable, link the DB-9 connector port on the VIP 4500 to an open COM port on the DMP 7000 control computer. The DB-9 port on the VIP 4500 console is immediately to the left of the VMax4TM Input port. Note: Make sure the processor is turned on and Venus® 7000 sign service is stopped.
- Open Tera Term® and go to Setup > Serial Port.
- In the Port field, enter the COM port on the DMP 7000 connected to the VIP.
- In the Serial Port setup window, configure the port settings as shown below.
- Bits per second: 115,200
- Data bits: 8
- Parity: None
- Stop bits: 1
- Flow Control: None
