VLink 4400 VLink 4500: How to use the VIP Webpage monitor to troubleshoot.

The Web Page for the VIP 4400/4500 can be a useful tool when troubleshooting for output issues to the display.  These webpages require a network connection between the VIP and the computer running the webpages (Typically this is done with a router or a switch).  The VIP and the computer will also need to have compatible network settings.

1.    Determine the IP address of the VIP
   1. Determine which DMP 7000 and which Sign is associated to the VIP.
   2. Go to (Start -> All Programs -> Venus 7000 -> Venus 7000 Tools -> V7 VLink Debugger)
   3. A VLink Debugger will open, select the sign that is associated with the VIP.
   4. Type the command  IP R click Enter
   5. The IP address should appear below the command line.
   6. If the Net Mask is needed, repeat the same steps as above, but change the command to NM R.
2. Open a Web Page
3. Enter the IP Address.  Example: http://192.168.0.XXX and press Enter.
4. A Webpage should appear.  If the webpage does not load, try to use compatibility mode for your browser.
5. From the webpage click on Monitor.
   • Note:  All other areas in the webpage should not be used when the DMP-7000 is being used.
6. Click on drop down to select the item that is to be monitored, then click Update.
   1. HDSDI Input 1-4.  This will show the raw input coming into the HDSDI Jack in which was selected.
   2. Analog 1 - 4.  This will show the raw input coming into any of the Analog inputs in which was selected.
   3. DVI/VGA 1-2.  This will show the raw input of either the DVI or VGA input in which was selected.
   4. VMax input.  Shows the incoming VMax signal from the DMP-7000
   5. VMax Output shows the output leaving the VIP
   6. Channel 1-4 Output shows the output out of each Channel of the VIP,
7. The image should appear in a black box.

How to use the information to Troubleshoot.

1. Know how information Moves thru the VIP. 
   1. Video - Inputs into the VIP thru one of the input connections, then is processed thru a Channel Chip then is added to the VMax Output
   2. Venus - Inputs into the VIP thru the Fiber or BNC VMax input connection and travels straight thru to the VMax output.
2. Know Which Mode is being used.
3. Know what you are looking at in the VIP Webpage
   1. On the Video input the entire image of what is coming in should appear.  The Viewable area does not matter at this point. 
      1. If the whole signal is seen, the signal should be good.
      2. If only part of the video input is seen, troubleshoot the player or input device coming into the VIP.
      3. If a line appears instead of a black box.  The signal is not getting to the VIP or the VIP will not accept it.  Again, Troubleshoot the player or Device, and verify wiring is connected correctly.
   2. On the Channel Output you should see the processed output of the Channel.   Viewable and Window area do matter at this point.
      1. If the image seems to be correct the Channel output should be good.
      2. If the image is the wrong shape or size, check the Window area for the Channel.
      3. If the Image is not showing the right input, check the input setting for the Channel.
      4. If the Image is not showing the right amount of the Input, check the Viewable area for the Channel.
   3. VMax input you should see whatever is playing on the DMP 7000
      1. Blank, nothing is playing or signal is not getting to the VIP from the DMP 7000
      2. Graphic Content.
      3. Key Color
      4. Full Green (no Black Space) this is also sign that the VIP does not receive signal from the DMP
   4. VMax output will show the output to the display (note that this may be shown as a slanted output in some instances.  This is a problem with the webpages and should not be outputting to the display in that manor.
      1.  If the wrong type of information is shown check your mode or Key Color.
