Content Studio: How do I make content that pages data?

Topic

This article describes how to increment or sequence the supply of data into a data-driven content template created in Content Studio.  Data paging logically organizes and presents the data in ways that are flexible and easily designed for consumption.

Content Studio Data Paging allows users to define the following:

  • The number of data-driven pages to increment.
  • The length of time to keep the pages of data displayed.
  • The behavior when the data is complete.

Data Paging increments through the XML data (JSON) item by item with a single piece of content/template.  This is important because you may not know how many items are in the feed at a given time.

Environment

  • Product: Content Studio version 3, DMP-8000
  • Component: Data Tools, Data Paging, Data Studio
  • Control System: Show Control System version 3.0.0.9 or later, Data Studio

  • Social Media XML feeds
  • Stock Price Spreadsheets

Creating a record

Full instructions for creating a presentation can be found here: Content Studio: How do I create presentations with data elements?

  1. Add one or more data elements to a Content Studio presentation. This could be the first row of related data that would be presented in a table format.  An example of this would be conference standings.
Align and format the fields as desired.  Content Studio: How do I create presentations with data elements?
  2. Highlight both data fields.  Navigate to Data Tools> Data List and select Create Record.
