Layout Editor: How do I add zones and create looks?

  • How do I create looks in the Layout Editor?
Here is an example of 2 Looks that share the same zone.  They are called Overlay Center and Overlay TL.

Environment

  • Product: Venus App, Layout Editor Hub
  • Components: DMP-8000 version 8.71+, VP-6000 version 30+
  • Control System: Show Control System (SCS) version 2.29+, Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Steps

  1. Log into Venus Control Suite Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. Select Layout Editor from the My Apps menu.

Create a layout or look. 

Within the Layout Editor:

  1. Select Looks from the right-side menu.
  2. Click Add Look
    1. Give the Look a name. The top example is named Overlay Center because the Overlay zone will be centered over the live video. 
  3. Create or add zone(s) for live video. Layout Editor: How do I create zones and looks for live video?    

Add Zone for the overlay zone.  

  • Click on the + by the Look folder and add a zone.

  • You can add an existing zone or create a new one.

Adjust the properties of the zone. 

  1. With the new zone selected, go to the Properties tab to configure.  
  2. Add the zone's name and a preview color.  The example is called Overlay.  

Adjust the size and position of the zone by adjusting the number values or click & drag the rectangular zone shape.  The top example of the Overlay Center look places a large zone in the center.  The top example also uses transparency in the content.  Layout Editor: Can I make zones with irregular shapes?

  1. Transition will default to cut. 
  2. Adjust the content fill mode.  Layout Editor: How do I use fit modes for content in my zones?
  3. Adjust the Opacity.  

Allocate the resources for this Overlay zone and the associated Live Video zone in the look.  

  1. With the Live Video zone created, go to the Settings tab.  
  2. Add a DakAlpha resource for the DMP-8000 content. No specific zone needs to be selected here.
  3. Add either a Dynamic or Static resource and apply it to the Live Video zone.

Save the new look. 

    Apply the layout to your display.
    1. Open Venus Displays App from the Apps Menu located in the top right of the VCS landing page.
    2. Select a display from the Displays page. 
    3. Under the Configuration tab, locate the Layout section. 
    4. Click Add Layout, select your L-wrapper Layout.
    5. Save the display.

      Legacy method of applying a layout to your display. (Do this if you do not have the Displays App.) 
      1. Navigate to the Displays in Venus Control Suite and click on the Display you want to edit.
      2. Select layouts from the menu and click Add Layout, select your L-wrapper Layout.
      3. Save the display.
