End Wall Video Displays to Improve Experience at Georgia Southwestern State University from Daktronics

Scorers tables, control system and content supplement Storm Dome installation

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 8, 2021 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) to design, manufacture and install new LED displays for the Storm Dome in Americus, Georgia. Two end wall video displays and four LED court-side scorers tables will be installed this fall to be used for the winter sports season.

“The opportunities for the boards are endless," said GSW President Neal Weaver, Ph.D. "The Storm Dome is the main venue on GSW’s campus – used anywhere from graduations and special guest speakers to outside tournaments and other campus and community events. These additions to our facility enhance the guest experience by providing state-of-the-art technology in a venue size unique to this region.

“Of course, the new video displays will certainly elevate the fan experience inside the Storm Dome at GSW basketball games as well and raise the level of excitement for our student-athletes. These boards will create new opportunities for our corporate partners to showcase their business and GSW students to gain hands-on experience in digital operations and production.”

At one end of the Storm Dome, two new LED video displays will be mounted to supplement the existing fixed-digit, centerhung scoreboards. Each display will measure approximately 10 feet high by 18 feet wide and will feature 5.9-millimeter pixel spacings. This technology will deliver exceptional image clarity and contrast to fans in every seat of the arena.

Each video display is capable of variable content zoning. This allows each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

Along the sidelines, four scorers tables will be installed. Each LED table will measure approximately 2 feet high by 9 feet wide and will feature 6-millimeter pixel spacing. These can be set up in any configuration and used to provide supplemental information and graphics to the main displays. They also offer the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events.

Daktronics will also be including its powerful Show Control solution with this installation. Three locker room clocks complete the equipment part of the project. In addition to the equipment installation, GSW will receive a content package that will be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
