Charleston Southern University Elevates Visual Experience with Daktronics

End wall video, scorers table displays added to Buccaneer Fieldhouse for basketball, volleyball and special events

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 12, 2024 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with Charleston Southern University to bring five new LED displays to Buccaneer Fieldhouse in North Charleston, South Carolina. The new end wall video display and four courtside scorers tables were installed this summer and ready for the return of sports to campus in the fall.

“I have been fortunate to have worked with Daktronics for many years and they have placed several video boards here on our campus already,” said Charleston Southern’s Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Jeff Barber. “This new video board for our basketball and volleyball teams is very special. Additionally, the digital scorers tables will add great excitement to an already special game experience for our teams and fans.”

End Wall Video Display Details

The video display installed at the end wall of the gym measures approximately 10 feet high by 20 feet wide and will feature a 5.9-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver crisp, clear imagery to fans throughout the arena. It is capable of showing all the live video and statistics that fans expect at live events, including graphics, animations and sponsorship messages.

The variable content zoning aspect allows the display to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show a dynamic set of digital content for viewers at multiple different events.

Scorers Table Display Details

Along the sidelines of the playing surface, four LED scorers tables were provided by Daktronics. Each display measures approximately 2.5 feet high by 10 feet wide and features 5.9-millimeter pixel spacing. These displays can be used in any configuration to meet the needs of the university and its many events at Buccaneer Fieldhouse. 

Included with the installation is a custom Daktronics control system to integrate the displays together and provide ease of control for every event.
