Baseball Experience Gets Upgrade at UC Davis from Daktronics
New outfield video display headed to California in 2025
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Feb. 26, 2025 – When University of California, Davis (UC Davis) fans headed to the ballpark for Opening Day, they were greeted by a new outfield video display manufactured and installed by Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota. Installation of the LED display took place in January 2025 and was ready for the first pitch at Dobbins Stadium on February 14.
“The new video board is exciting for everyone connected to our program,” states Head Coach Tommy Nicholson. “Those who are close to the program and built it to what it is today have envisioned this for a long time and now that vision is a reality. It further elevates the game day for both our fans and players, and is another step that symbolizes the trajectory UC Davis Baseball is heading in.”
Video Display Details
The outfield video display measures more than 13 feet high by 36 feet wide and features a 10-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver crisp, clear imagery to fans throughout the ballpark. It also features industry-leading environmental protection to ensure it operates as expected in the outdoor elements of California.
“Bringing new views to the game is something we’re really excited about, and this installation for UC Davis is going to be a great addition to the game-day experience,” said Eric Cain, Daktronics sales representative. “We’re looking forward to seeing this project make a positive impact on their campus this season.”
Allowing for the game-day experience fans expect at the ballpark, the display is capable of variable content zoning to show one large image or multiple zones of content. This includes instant replays, statistics and data, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
Powering the video display is a custom Daktronics control system including Show Control and Data Studio Baseball. Show Control provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a powerful yet user-friendly production solution.
Included in the equipment installation, UC Davis will receive a digital content package to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
Daktronics has grown with the sports industry from the company’s beginnings in 1968. Today, the company has LED video display installations at hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States.
