Fredericksburg Nationals Bring New Visual Experience with Daktronics Technology

In-bowl displays and billboard added to the ballpark in 2020

BROOKINGS, S.D. – May 12, 2021 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with the Fredericksburg Nationals to design, manufacture and install four new LED displays in Virginia. The installation took place in 2020 and welcomed fans at the team's home opener, including promotional messages on the new interstate-facing billboard.

"We set out to create a family-owned and financed ballpark that had really never been done before," said Art Silber, Chairman and CEO of the Fredericksburg Nationals. "We were able to be creative where we chose and work with those people we thought could do the best job for us. Daktronics understood our passion and fulfilled the dreams we had for the video board, ribbon board, and what is a truly unique and creative scoreboard box."

The new main video display in the outfield measures approximately 26.5 feet high by 60 feet wide and the outfield fence display measures approximately 6 feet high by 167 feet wide. Both displays feature 15HD pixel layouts and industry-leading environmental protection to provide crisp, clear imagery to fans throughout the stadium during any type of weather.

The main video display is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages. The wall display can highlight additional statistics including out-of-town scores and other information.

"It's a brand-new ballpark which brings a lot of excitement to the area and it's always special to bring together such a great video solution for our partner, the Fredericksburg Nationals," said Charley Bocklet, Daktronics regional manager. "This has been a fun project to work on and a pleasure to see everything come together. We can't wait to watch a game at the new park when it's full of fans cheering on their team."

Behind home plate along the seating fascia, a ribbon display featuring a 15HD pixel layout was installed to supplement the main and outfield fence displays. It measures 3.5 feet high by 40 feet wide and offers the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events.

Along Interstate 95, a billboard was also installed and measures 13.5 feet high by 27.5 feet wide. It features 19.8-millimeter pixel spacing to bring light to promotional and advertising messages for the team. It is controlled by Daktronics Venus Control Suite to schedule and share content as the solution combines functionality with a great user experience.

Daktronics will also be including its powerful Show Control system with this installation for the in-stadium displays. This industry-leading system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution. In addition to the equipment installation, the Nationals will also receive a content package that will be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
