Venus Displays: How do I add a web camera to Venus Control Suite?

🛠️Account administrators have access to change the display's settings.

Steps

Note: If you do not have a webcam installed, check with your professional services to determine a compatible webcam for your system. 

  1. Log into Venus Control Suite.  See: Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. Open Venus Display App from the Apps Menu located in the top right of the VCS landing page. Venus: My navigation has changed after updates.
  3. Click on an existing display to Edit.
  4. Click on the Web Cam tab.

  1. Click ➕to Add a Web Camera.
  2. Fill out the applicable information in the "Add Web Cam" window.
    • Web Camera Name: This will be the site name.
    • Web Camera Address: This will be the public IP and port number in use by the webcam.
      • Ex. https://publicIP:port where "publicIP" is the remote address used to access the webcam and "port" is the port used to view it.
    • Web Cam Type:  Select this drop down depending on the webcam being used (Panasonic MultiCam allows you to choose which video input on the Axis Video Server to show video from).

  1. Click Save.
  2. Click the Save button on the Web Camera tab when finished.

Monitoring App Webcam view

  • Webcams can be re-enabled from the Monitoring App dashboard. 
  • Click on the tile to retry.  If the connection is successful, preview will show.

Legacy method (without Venus Displays App)

  1. Click the Displays button.
  2. Click the display from the list that loads.
  3. Click the Web Cams link.
  4. Click the Add Web Cam button.
  5. Fill out the applicable information in the "Add Web Cam" pop up.
    1. Web Cam Name - this will be the site name.
    2. Web Cam Address - this will be the public IP and port number in use by the webcam.
      • Ex. http://publicIP:port where "publicIP" is the remote address used to access the webcam and "port" is the port used to view it.
    3. Web Cam Type - select this drop down depending on the webcam being used (Panasonic MultiCam allows you to choose which video input on the Axis Video Server to show video from).
  6. Click Done.
  7. Click the Save button.
