Venus Displays: Unable to view webcam in Venus Control Suite (VCS), incorrect configuration in VCS

Potential Symptoms

  • Customer can not view the webcam in Venus Control Suite (VCS) Dashboard.
  • Webcam window only shows "attempting to load the image".

Environment

  • Product: GS6, GC6, GP4, DB-4100, DB-4200, DB-5000, DB-6000, DB-6400
  • Component: Webcam
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite - Hosted     

Cause

  • The webcam address link or IP could be incorrect.
  • The webcam type could be incorrect.

Resolution

  1. Log into Venus Control Suite.  See: Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. Open Venus Display App from the Apps Menu located in the top right of the VCS landing page. Venus: My navigation has changed after updates
  3. Click on an existing display to Edit.
  4. Click on the Web Cameras tab. 
  5. On the Web Cams screen, click the gear icon next to the webcam.
  6. In the Webcam settings, enter the correct information.
  7. Click Done.
  8. Click Save on the Display Information screen.
Legacy method without Venus Displays App
  1. In VCS, on the left side panel tiles, click on "Displays".
  2. Click on the display that needs the camera changed.
  3. On the Display Information screen, select the Web Cams tab on the left side.
  4. On the Web Cams screen, click the gear icon next to the webcam.
  5. In the Webcam settings, enter the correct information.
  6. Click Done.
  7. Click Save on the Display Information screen.
