Cause

  • The Daktronics Fusion Service cannot start properly due to the computer name. The Fusion Service cannot start if a computer name starts with a Dash - in front of it. For example the computer name is -PC, the computer name would need to be PC or can be Desktop-PC. A Dash - can be in the name, it just cannot start with a Dash.

Resolution

  • Step 1: Check Computer Name and Change the computer name to where it does not start with a dash.
    WARNING: Changing a computer name may cause failure in other software programs. Please consult with your IT Department or Software Manufacturers before proceeding. Check Microsoft's website for instructions for the following: 
  • Step 2: Update Venus 1500 v4.18 or greater to the latest version.
    1. Follow How do I update or download Venus 1500 v4 software? DD1993540 on how to download the latest Venus 1500 and install.
    2. Restart the computer.
  • Step 3: Repair Daktronics Fusion.
    1. Go to Windows Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features.
    2. Locate the following applications: 
      • Daktronics Fusion
    3. Select and highlight Daktronics Fusion and click Repair.
    4. Allow repair of Daktronics Fusion to complete.
      • Computer restart is not required.
