Steps

There are two different ways that you can transfer Venus 1500 V3 messages to Venus 1500 V4 or Display Studio.

IMPORTANT: You will need the most up-to-date version of Venus 1500 Version 3 (3.12) in order to transfer messages from V3 to V4. To update to V3.12, refer to the following article: Venus 1500: How do I update my version 3 software to the latest 3.12?

Option 1: Save a copy of the Venus 1500 V3 database to the computer that will run V4. (Preferred Method for Venus 1500 V4 as well as Display Studio).

  1. Save the Venus 1500 V3 .m2m files to desktop of Venus 1500 V4 computer.
  2. Launch Daktronics Content Studio (Content Tab -> Create).
  3. Click the Orange V Application Menu and choose Open.
  4. Browse to the location of the V3.12 .m2m message files are stored.
  5. Once in the folder where the .m2m files are saved, change the File type drop-down (under the File Name) from VMPF files to M2ML files.
  6. The messages will appear, select the desired message and click the Open.
  7. Message will open in Daktronics Content Studio.
  8. Click the Orange V Application Menu and select Save As.
  9. On the left menu, click Daktronics.
  10. Double-click any of the folders in your Venus 1500 V4 Database or create a new folder by clicking the Green Star (top Right).
  11. Give the presentation a name under File Name.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Message will be converted to Venus 1500 V4 Presentation VMPF format.
  14. Click the Play button in bottom right of Content Studio to preview presentation to assure that it will play correctly.
    • If the presentation does not preview properly, or is crashing, it's recommended to recreate the message using Content Studio.
  15. Repeat steps as needed.

Option 2: Send all messages out to your display in V3 software and retrieve messages from display in V4 software. (The least recommended way, and is not recommended for Display Studio).

  1. Send all presentations out to your display in Venus 1500 V3 software.
  2. Launch Venus 1500 V4 on new computer and do a Retrieve All to save all messages to V4 database.
