Server radio has no power, Network Cable Unplugged; PoE cables reversed
Potential Symptoms
- Server radio has no power. No LED lights lit on the server radio.
- Unable to communicate to the display.
- Unable to PING display IP address.
- Unable to connect in any software (i.e. M2config, Venus 1500, Venus Control Suite, Show Control)
- Network Connections/LAN show "Network Cable Unplugged".
- Any port the opposite end of the Ethernet cable that connects to the PoE is connected to shows NO activity on the port (Switch/hub/computer Ethernet jack).
- Depending on display model, may show "ETH: No Link" on boot up.
Environment
- Product: Galaxy, GalaxyPro, GS6 Displays, GT6
- Component: Ethernet Bridge Radios (EBRs), DC Injector (DCI), New install (FTFU) or recently relocated equipment.
- Note: The DC Injector is also called a PoE (Power over Ethernet) device.
- Control System:
Cause
- Cat5 cable connections to POE for the server radio are reversed.
- Radio connected to "Switch Hub" or "Data In" and computer or network connected to "P+Data Out", "Data+Power out", "RJ45", or "Data+PoE Out"
Resolution
- Correct the connections on DC injector.
- Connect side labeled "Data In" or "Switch Hub" to the Computer/Network.
- Connect side labeled "P+Data Out", "Data+Power out", "RJ45", or "Data+PoE Out" to Radio.
