Ethernet Bridge Radios: Unable to communicate; PoE power unplugged

Potential Symptoms

  • Can't communicate to display using Ethernet Bridge Radios (EBR's), no green power LED lit on DC Injector (DCI) or Power Over Ethernet (POE) device.
  • Network adapter / Local Area Network (LAN) may show "network cable unplugged".
  • Venus 1500 V4 Troubleshooting Wizard does not show signal bars representative of the server radio.
  • DMP and VIP both show offline in Venus Control Suite (VCS).
  • Venus Control Suite dashboard indicates a "Communication error".

M-Series Bridge symptom:

  • Bridge is online but M Series is offline.

Environment

  • Product: Galaxy, GalaxyPro, GPR, GP3, GP4, GS6, GT6, M-Series Hardware Bridge
  • Component: PoE for Ethernet Bridge radio
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v3 or v4, Venus Control Suite

Cause

  • Power cable unplugged for DCI / POE  (PoE provides the power to the server radio)
    • or
  • Power cable plugged into an outlet that isn't operating correctly (bad outlet, circuit breaker feeding voltage to it has tripped, etc.).

Resolution

  • Plug power cable into DCI and other end into the electrical outlet.
