  • Mod that is too dim in a NovaStar controlled display

Environment

  • Product: Nova MCTRL 600, Nova MCTRL 660, NovaStar VX4S, NovaStar brand sender box and receiver  cards
  • Components: NovaLCT-Mars
  • Control System: Market Standard or Limited Compliance using transmit common/open protocol
  • This includes but not limited to DVN-4003, Dragon sticks, J Series, JVX, U Series, Q Series, QVN, Z Series, and ZPN.

Steps

Sign in as an Advanced User

NovaStar: How do I log into and install software to use the NovaLCT-Mars Sender Box?
  1. PW = 666
  2. Select Screen Control - put a color test pattern on display. NovaStar: How do I display a test pattern for in displays using a Nova LCT-Mars software?
    1. Start with the White color pattern.  This process will need to be repeated with Red, Green and Blue. 
    2. Minimize after the test pattern is going. 
  3. Select Calibration Icon from the NovaLCT software. (May need to double click.)
    1. Select Communication Port/IP
    2. Select the Correct Screen (if sender is controlling multiple screens)
    3. Select Change to Brightness Calibration
    4. Select Save
  4. Select OK to the saved successfully prompt.

Manage Coefficients

  1. Select the Managed Coefficients Tab. 
    • Click Adjust Coefficients (Color is not uniform on screen).
  2. Select Select by Pixel Area (Can also select Screen if available)
  3. Enter in entire size of display.
    • Verify the Adjust on its own effect radio button is selected.
  4. Select Next.

This may take a while depending on size of display as it is reaching the values of all receiver cards.
  1. Once completed select OK.
A box (representing the test pattern) will appear on screen.  It will be white if playing the white test pattern. (Select "hide color window" on screen behind white one)

Adjust all 3 colors down (leaving headroom to adjust dark mods higher)

  1. Set each color to 80. Hit enter after each one.
  • The display should be changing each color (display should look slightly dimmer than when started)
  1. Select Next.
  2. Select Save (again this may take some time)
  3. Click Return.

Calibration is saved on the receiver cards (not the modules themselves)

  • New modules will need to be calibrated however you can save the coefficients files to upload making the process quicker.
