A Gift That Became a Turning Point
When Haughton High School renamed its football field Prescott Field, it wasn’t simply honoring a hometown hero. It was opening the door to a new era for students, fans and the entire community.
Thanks to a donation from Dak Prescott, Haughton alumnus and Dallas Cowboys quarterback, the school installed Louisiana’s largest high school LED video board. The display immediately became a platform for learning, creativity and connection.

A Pep Rally That Showed What a High School Video Board Makes Possible
The dedication of Prescott Field was unforgettable. Fireworks lit the sky. Thousands gathered in the stadium. Prescott’s jersey was retired. And students weren’t just watching - they were running the show.
That night made something clear: this wasn’t just about a display. It was about giving students real responsibility, and a platform to lead in front of their community.

Students Behind the Screen: Running Live Game-Day Production at Haughton High
The video board launched a student‑driven production program powered by DakClassroom, Daktronics CTE‑aligned curriculum for live event production.
Under instructor Joshua O’Nishea, students take the lead on:
- Live video production
- Camera operation and replays
- Motion graphics and hype videos
- Game‑day workflows
“Everything that goes on the board starts with their ideas,” O’Nishea explained. “That’s what makes this program so powerful.”
Athletic Director David Turner adds,
These kids aren’t just learning. They’re creating something that entertains thousands every week.
Beyond the Field – How the Video Board Became a Sustainable Funding Source
Prescott Field quickly became a fundraising powerhouse.
Sponsorship slots sold out in less than 24 hours, generating nearly $50,000 in the first year alone. Those funds now support athletics, classroom projects, new equipment and future technology upgrades, extending the impact well beyond game day.
With support from Daktronics Sports Marketing, the video board delivers ongoing value that helps sustain the program year after year.
A Legacy of Inspiration That Starts with Students
For Dak Prescott, the goal was never just to donate equipment – it was to inspire.
“I hope I can be that image for one of these kids,” Prescott shared. “Whether it’s football or something else, I hope they realize they can do it.”
That inspiration now lives on in every production, every student‑created graphic, and every Friday night where students are trusted to run the show at Prescott Field.
