GS6 Offline in VCS, modem has no power

Potential Symptoms

  • DMP and VIP are offline in VCS Dashboard.
  • FTFU unable to communicate to the modem or the display
  • The modem has no lights lit.
  • Content might be old and not updating, or display is blank.

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: GS6, GC6
  • Component: Sierra Wireless RV50, (4G cellular modem)
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • The AUX cable from the modem is not connected or seated fully, at the Quick Connect (QC) jack on the back of the display cabinet.

Resolution

  •    Reconnect the AUX cable to the QC jack on the back of the display cabinet. Watch for lights on the modem, and wait a few minutes for the modem to boot up and get an internet connection. (May take 10 minutes)
