Unable to install, save or load the Venus 1500 V4 Database, SQLCMD.exe in the wrong spot

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to install, Save or Load the Venus 1500 V4 Database (see How do I use the Nucleus Server Database utility to transfer or save a database? DD1705994.)
    • First it will give: The system cannot find the file specified File path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\SQLCMD.EXE

    • Then it will say: Please wait until the current process is finished

    • The file mentioned in the first error can't be found at that file path.
  • Receive the following error when installing SQL 2014 from the Venus install file "File not found: SQL CMD.exe."
  • Even after a manual SQL installation, the Venus 1500 v4 software setup install will not complete. It gives the above "Error updating database".

Cause

  • During the installation of Microsoft SQL Server it has been known to put SQLCMD.exe in a different spot.
  • The Venus 1500 Database Utility is unable to find it.

Resolution

  1. Navigate here for Windows 10: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\Client SDK\ODBC\110\
  2. Copy the Tools folder.
  3. Then Navigate here for Windows 10: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\
  4. Paste the folder there in "90".
    1. It may be necessary to restart the computer.
  5. Then try again to Load, Save, or install your Database or software setup.

For Temporary Operation

  1. Uninstall Venus 1500 V4. (see How to uninstall Venus V4 DD2774844)
  2. Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server (see How to remove/uninstall SQL Server 2005, 2008 or 2014 DD3522855)
  3. Manually install SQL Server (see How to Install Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Manually DD3302758)
  4. Install Venus V4 (see How do I update or download Venus 1500 V4 software? DD1993540)
  5. Load or Save your Database.
