Live Book GFX: How to get data from the Nevco controller

Steps

Connect the USB to serial cable
  1. Connect the USB to serial cable to the laptop
  2. On the serial end of the USB to serial cable connect a RS232 cable
  3. Connect the other end of the RS232 cable to the RS232 port on the back of the Fairplay controller

Verify the USB to serial points to COM1

  1. Click on the Windows start menu and type device manager and click on the icon.

  2. Click on Ports drop down, the USB serial port should say COM1.
  3. If the com port doesn't show COM1, right click on it and click on properties to change the port number

  4. Click on the Port Settings tab, Select Advanced and use the COM port number drop down to choose COM1 from the drop down.

  5. Press ok to add the change. The USB to serial port should now show COM1.

 Get clock data to the SportApp

  1. Launch the SportApp
  2. Click on the settings menu icon on the lower right of the UI to view the SportApp settings
  3. Choose Nevco Basketball from the drop down box under Scoreboard Feed

  4. Click on the scoreboard Feed Options on the right to verify the connection is set to serial

  5. Click on the Source From Feed drop down to confirm the clock, score, period and other options are set to auto instead of manual

  6. Start the clock from the controller, the data should show up on the UI and on the score bug
  7. The scoreboard notification on the base of the UI will show data ok to confirm it's getting data from the controller
