SportApp: How do I configure a radar gun?

Steps

Connect the USB to serial cable

  1. Connect the USB to serial cable to the laptop.
  2. On the serial end of the USB to serial cable connect a RS232 cable.
  3. Connect the other end of the RS232 cable to the radar gun.

Verify the USB to serial points to com 1

  1. Click on the windows start menu and type device manager and click on the icon.

  2. Click on Ports drop down, the usb serial port should say com 1.
  3. If the com port doesn't show com 1 right click on it, click on properties to change the port number.

  4. Click on the Port Settings tab, Advanced and use the com port number drop down to choose com 1 from the drop down.radar3.jpg
  5. Press ok to add the change. The usb to serial port should now show com 1.
Setup the radar gun
  1. Click on the Plug-ins button located on the bottom right corner of the interface.

  2. When the Plugin Manager dialog is visible click on the gear icon to the right of the word "game data."

    The radar gun data settings dialog will popup.
  3. At the Protocol drop down choose either the Stalker or Jugs.

  4. Set the minimum pitch speed.
  5. Enable the radar gun and press ok to close the dialog.

  6. Press save on the Plugin Manager to keep your changes.
Set the pitch speed to auto
  1. On the right side of the user interface, click the gear icon to view the pitch speed options.
  2. Set the pitch speed to auto show/hide.

  3. The Plugin Data option should have a check mark to show its already selected.
  4. When the mode is set to auto/show hide the pitch speed show button will be disabled. The pitch speed will show and hide on the score bug automatically 
  5. The text that reads disabled below the actual pitch speed will show as data ok if the connection between the gun and the com port is configured properly.
Set the pitch speed operation
  1. If the pitch speed is set to manual show/hide the show button will become enabled.

  2. To show the pitch speed on the score bug the show button has to be pressed.
  3. If getting plugin data, it will show the pitch speed comes from the radar gun.
    Note: If the pitch speed is set to manual data the operator has to input the pitch speed by hand.
