SmartLink monitor won't stay open on the player, Cylance antivirus closing it

Potential Symptoms

  • SmartLink monitor app icon is not visible in the lower right on the task bar.
  • Icon may appear briefly when starting the app and the disappears.
  • SmartLink monitor app log file located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Daktronics\SmartLink Monitor has the following events:
    • Application Started
    • Application terminated

    Environment

    • Product Family: Billboards
    • Product: DB-4200
    • Component: Windows XP image
    • Control System:

    Cause

    • Cylance antivirus closing the app.

    Resolution

    • Unknown, possibly add the SmartLink monitor app to the list of exceptions in Cylance.
      • App is installed at C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Common\SmartLink Monitor and the file name is SmartLinkMonitor.exe

    For Temporary Operation

    • Uninstall Cylance through Add/Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel.
