Error during setup of users and roles; Nucleus logs show "System.TimeoutException: Service '(.../2009/fusion)pub-private' not found"

Potential Symptoms

Fusion will not stay running when Nucleus service is started.

When trying to start fusion service manually get error: "windows could not start the Daktronics fusion service on local computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

Nucleus logs show:

Error during setup of users and roles.
Message: Service '{http://standards.daktronics.com/2009/fusion}pub-private' not found after 00:30:00.4548223.
System.TimeoutException: Service '{http://standards.daktronics.com/2009/fusion}pub-private' not found.

Environment

Product:
Component: Fusion Certificate
Control System: Venus 1500 V4.18+

Cause

Fusion certificate has been corrupted or is missing.

Resolution

Remove Fusion certificate from the MMC console.

Step 1: Check to see if Fusion Certificate is installed and if not, how to get it to install.

Go to Windows Start Menu.

Windows XP - Click Run, type MMC and hit [Enter].
Windows Vista or 7 - In the Search Programs and Files, type MMC, select MMC from filtered Start Menu.
Windows 8 - Hover to bottom right of desktop, click Magnify Glass, type MMC and hit [Enter].

From the MMC Console, click File -> Add/Remove Snap-in.

Under Available snap-ins menu, select Certificates and click Add > to push to Selected snap-ins menu.

From the Pop-up window, select Computer Account and click Next.

Leave on or select Local Computer and click Finish.

Click Ok.

In the Name panel, double-click Certificates (Local Computer).

In the Local Store Name panel, double-click on Personal and then Certificates

Under the Issued By column, look for Daktronics Fusion CA certificate.

If the Daktronics Fusion CA not listed, but shows other program certificates:

Follow resolution on No matching SSL Certificate found, DD2535149.
When other certificates are listed in the Personal folder, Fusion cannot install a certificate on its own, need to follow article above.

If the Daktronics Fusion CA is not listed, and does not show other program certificates:

Follow instructions on How do I manually start the Daktronics Fusion Server? DD2236444
By starting the Daktronics Fusion service, this should automatically add in a certificate.

If the Daktronics Fusion CA is listed, check under Issued To and make sure computer name on the certificate match the actual computer name.

If computer name does not match, select Daktronics Fusion CA and click Delete. If it is missing, continue to the repair.

Then go to Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features and select Daktronics Fusion and click Repair.

Once Certificate appears in folder, close MMC and click No to save the snap-in.

You may need to click refresh the MMC View from the Refresh Arrows.

Step 2: Launch Venus 1500 v4 as normal.
