Troubleshooting IDM: Intermittent or Persistent Loss of Sync (ProLink5, Portx)

Environment

  • Product Family: Any display using PL5x modules with SATA cables
  • Products: DB-4000, DB-4100, DB-4200, DB-5000, DB-6000, DB-6400, DXB-0100, BLD-0100
  • Component: PL5x module, SATA cable
  • Control System: IDM

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Visually inspect SATA cable connections on module.
  2. If unable to see any visual issues, reseat the SATA connections on each module as per Loss of Sync, Communication Failure, and Checksum events in IDM, Loose SATA cable, DD2022193.
  3. If the event does not clear in IDM, perform a self-test on the module to determine the problem. Refer to How do I perform self test on a PL5X series module?, DD2045934 for instruction on how to perform a module self-test.

Note:
The SATA cables do not need to be run from port B on one module to port A on the next module. Cables can go from A to A and B to B, if it is easier.
