How do I set or change a static IP on my computer or USB to Ethernet adapter?
How can I check my computer's static IP address.

Answer/Steps
Change IP Address on computer Local Area Network adapter or USB to Ethernet adapter to a similar IP Address.
Note
: (If display's IP Address is not known, cycle power and watch the start up sequence for the IP Address of the controller):
If using the default Daktronics IP Address of 172.16.192.25 on the display, use the following IP Address of 172.16.192.20 and a Subnet of 255.255.0.0 on the computer.
If display is not using the default IP Address, set computer's IP Address to a static IP Address similar to the display's controller.
Windows 7
:
Click on the network icon at the bottom right of your computer screen.
Click on
Open Network and Sharing Center
when the window opens.
Select
Change Adapter Settings
in the left toolbar.
Right Click on the appropriate adapter (
Local Area Connection
for direct connect to computer or correct
USB to Ethernet adapter
)
then click on
Properties
.
Select
Internet Protocol Version 4
then click on
Properties
.
Make note of the current IP settings for the computer.
Select
Use the Following IP Address
.
Type in the desired IP Address for the computer or select Obtain IP Address Automatically for DHCP.
Note
: The IP Address for the computer should be similar to the display IP Address, but NOT the same.
Press the
Tab Key
on the keyboard after typing the IP Address and the Subnet Mask should populate automatically.
Note
: The subnet mask should be the same between the computer and the display.
Select
OK
once the information has been entered.
Select
Close
to close out the Local Area Connection Properties window.
Windows 8
/ Windows 10
:
From the Start screen, begin typing
Network and Sharing Center
.
Click
Settings
.
Click
Network and Sharing Center
on the search results on the left.
Select
Change Adapter Settings
in the left toolbar.
Right Click on the appropriate adapter (
Local Area Connection
for direct connect to computer or correct
USB to Ethernet adapter
)
then click on
Properties
.
Select
Internet Protocol Version 4
then click on
Properties
.
Make note of the current IP settings for the computer.
Select
Use the following IP Address
.
