Radar Gun does not match speed of pitch on scoreboard and All Sport; All Sport configured with a Speed Adjust Coefficient

Potential Symptoms

  • Speed on gun does not match speed on scoreboard.
  • Speed of pitch displays on the Radar Gun.
  • The speed shown on the All Sport LCD doesn't match that from the Radar Gun but matches what is shown on the scoreboard.

Environment

  • Product: Radar Gun integration with All Sport 5000 (Seen this with Jugs and Stalker Pro II+. Assuming this applies to all types of Radar guns)
  • Component:
  • Control System: All Sport 5000

Cause

  • All Sport configured with a Speed Adjust Coefficient.

Resolution

The Speed Adjust Coefficient is used to offset the speed due to the placement of the radar gun.
Ideally, the gun would be mounted directly behind home plate within 300' of the pitcher's mound. That is not always possible. To the degree we elevate the gun or move it to the side it can make the speed reading slightly inaccurate. The Speed Adjust Coefficient is to offset that.
See the pictures below for how to calculate this and the more formal explanation for it in the All Sport manual.

How to change the Speed Adjust Coefficient:

  1. Click the Menu button on the All Sport. Press the down arrow until you find "Speed Adjust Coefficient".
  2. Change it to what you need and press Enter.
    • Set it to 0.0000 to disable the Speed Adjust.
    • Most Speed adjustments will be small and the Coefficient will be closer to 1 (i.e. 0.9848, 0.9998, etc)
    • The closer that number gets to zero the higher the offset will be (i.e. we've seen a Coefficient of 0.0102 offset a 55MPH pitch to 999MPH)
