Daktronics High School Video Summit Brings Educators, Students and Industry Professionals Together for Annual Learning Experience
BROOKINGS, S.D. – July 20, 2026 – Daktronics (NASDAQ: DAKT) recently concluded its 2026 High School Video Summit, bringing together educators, production professionals and students for two days of learning, collaboration and real-world insight focused on live event production. The annual event combined virtual educational sessions with hands-on experiences at host schools across the country, continuing its mission to help schools elevate video production programs and student storytelling opportunities.
Created specifically for the high school market, the Video Summit provides a platform for educators and student production teams to connect with industry experts, learn new production techniques and exchange ideas with peers. The hybrid format allows participants to gain both broad industry perspective and firsthand exposure to successful high school production environments.
“The information and the content covered was very helpful,” says Charnelle Woolegd, teacher and video display operator at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “I also participated and attended last year’s summit. This year was even more helpful and offered different ideas for me to try for more fan engagement with our boards during volleyball and basketball games.”
Virtual Sessions Highlight Industry Expertise
The Summit opened with a full day of virtual presentations featuring professionals from across the sports, broadcasting and education industries. Sessions focused on production workflows, live event execution, audio integration, student storytelling and career development pathways.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Francisco Castillo, whose experience spans professional sports organizations including the Los Angeles Dodgers, LA Galaxy, LAFC, USC, UCLA, the Rams and the Chargers. In his presentation, Castillo shared industry insights, production experiences and encouragement for students pursuing careers in live event production.
Additional featured presenters included:
Keith Brown, producer, operator and educator at Perry High School
Lucas Dahlberg, event producer and promotions professional
DJ Griff, ESPN College GameDay DJ and music educator
Chad M. Ekren, director of broadcast and media operations
The virtual learning experience also included interactive discussions and question-and-answer opportunities that connected attendees directly with speakers and fellow participants. During the event, Daktronics also announced the latest DakClassroom Showcase winners, recognizing excellence in student-created content and production work.

Seven Host Schools Showcase Student-Led Production Programs
On the second day of the Summit, attendees participated in hands-on learning experiences at host sites throughout the United States. The event featured seven host schools that opened their facilities and production operations to fellow educators and students, providing an inside look at successful student-led event production programs.
Host locations included:
Archbishop Spalding – Maryland
Centennial Public School – Nebraska
Council Bluffs Community School District – Iowa
Eagan High School – Minnesota
Midlothian High School – Texas
Neenah High School – Wisconsin
Saraland High School – Alabama
These site visits offered guided tours, live demonstrations and peer-to-peer discussions focused on production workflows, equipment integration, staffing strategies and game-day operations. Attendees were able to see how schools of varying sizes and resources create engaging live event experiences while developing valuable student skills. One school also included a group of students who presented their experience in event production.
For participants unable to attend a host site, additional virtual content covering Daktronics systems and production technologies was also available.
Supporting Student Development Through Real-World Learning
A key benefit of the Video Summit is its ability to connect educators and students with experienced professionals while creating opportunities for collaboration across schools and regions. The event supports student growth in video production, broadcasting, live event operations and storytelling while helping educators strengthen their programs through shared best practices.
By combining expert-led instruction, interactive discussions and real-world demonstrations, the Summit provides practical learning experiences that extend beyond the event itself. Participants also receive access to recorded sessions following the Summit, allowing teams to revisit presentations and continue learning throughout the year.
Continuing to Grow as an Annual Resource
Since its launch, the High School Video Summit has continued to evolve with new speakers, fresh content and expanded learning opportunities. The program serves as a key annual touchpoint for schools using video displays and live event production systems, while fostering a growing community of educators and students committed to creating meaningful audience experiences.
Looking Ahead
Daktronics plans to continue building upon the success of the Video Summit and encourages schools interested in participating in future events to stay connected for upcoming announcements.
