Akron RubberDucks Improve Stadium Experience with Daktronics Displays

Five displays to bring new views of baseball games at Canal Park

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Apr. 7, 2025 – To improve the baseball experience at Canal Park, the Akron RubberDucks have turned to Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture and install new LED displays throughout the ballpark in Akron, Ohio. The installation took place over the winter months and includes a main video display in right field, an auxiliary video display in left field, two ribbon displays along the seating fascia and a marquee display outside the ballpark.

“We are excited for our fans to see the awesome new videoboards at Canal Park,” Akron RubberDucks President and General Manager Jim Pfander said. “Each offseason we look for ways to reinvest in the stadium to make the fan experience better. With the expanded digital footprint, fans of all ages are going to have a crystal-clear view of what’s going on.”

Video Display Details

In right field, the main video display measures 41 feet high by 67 feet wide. In left field, the auxiliary display measures 12 feet high by 54 feet wide. Both displays feature 10-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver crisp, clear imagery.

Together, these displays provide all the statistics, game information, graphics, replays and other information fans crave at the ballpark. Each display is capable of variable content zoning allowing them to show one large image or multiple zones of content to fit the needs of the team and other events at the stadium.

“The upgraded technology at Canal Park is going to elevate the entire baseball experience,” said Daryl Mihal, Daktronics regional manager. “We’re proud to continue working with the Akron RubberDucks with this new display project and look forward to seeing the impact this season.”

Additional Display Details

Along the seating fascia of the stadium, two long, narrow ribbon displays are installed to share additional information, statistics and sponsor messages throughout events. Each display measures 3.5 feet high by 33.5 feet wide and features 10-millimeter pixel spacing.

Outside the ballpark, the marquee display welcomes fans and shares information of current and upcoming events. This display measures nearly 8 feet high by 12 feet wide and also features a 10-millimeter pixel spacing.

Powering these displays, Daktronics Show Control system is integrated into the entire display system. This industry-leading control system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a powerful yet user-friendly production solution.
