Wake Forest and Daktronics Announce LJVM Coliseum Display Upgrades

BROOKINGS, S.D. – July 11, 2017 – Wake Forest Athletics and Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) announced Tuesday their partnership to bring 35 LED displays to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial (LJVM) Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The installation of more than 5,000 square feet of LED displays will be completed this summer and will enhance the fan experience at 2017-18 Demon Deacon home games.

The entire project will use a total 4.8 million LEDs while it would take 133 60-inch televisions to cover the five centerhung displays.

"As a department, we are very excited to once again partner with Daktronics to provide an enhanced fan experience at our athletic venues," said Steve Adams, Wake Forest Associate Athletic Director, Internal Operations. "The upgrades to the LJVM Coliseum will provide the 'wow' factor that has become the standard of excellence for venues around the ACC. We look forward to completing this work in time for the upcoming basketball season."

The new centerhung configuration will feature more than 1,400 square feet of displays using 6-millimeter line spacing for a total of 3.1 million LEDs. The two largest, sideline-facing displays will employ a unique concave curvature and measure approximately 15.5 feet high by 28 feet wide. The two end-facing displays will measure roughly 9.5 feet high by 17.5 feet wide.

These four displays are each capable of variable content zoning allowing them to show one large image or to be divided into multiple windows to show any variety of live video, instant replay, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

A LED ring display above the four main displays will wrap the top of the configuration while matching the curvatures along each sideline and straightening along the end lines to show supplemental stats and information.

In addition to the centerhung displays, a total of 22 ribbon displays will be installed to add 1,050 feet in length to the LED display inventory at the venue. The seven LED scorer's tables can be organized in any configuration. These displays can offer supplemental content to the main displays while providing the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events.

The project will also include an upgrade outside the LJVM Coliseum where two marquee displays will be installed to welcome fans and keep everyone informed of current and upcoming events.

"Daktronics is thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Wake Forest University," said Tyler Jones, Daktronics project manager. "We look forward to seeing Demon Deacon fans enjoy the new equipment during the upcoming basketball season and for many years to come."

The project continues a longtime partnership between Wake Forest and Daktronics, which also includes the video boards at BB&T Field and David F. Couch Ballpark. Daktronics, located in Brookings, S.D., is a worldwide leader in the industry as its LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
