Content Studio: How do I add time-of-day to a presentation?

Topic

  • How do you add time of day to a presentation in Content Studio?
  • Can I show time of day on my video display without an All Sport?

Environment

  • Product:
  • Components: DMP-8000, DMP-7000, Content Studio
  • Control System: Show Control System (SCS)

Steps

  1. On the Show Control computer, launch Content Studio via the pencil icon in Display Studio or via the start menu if using Content Studio V2. Follow How do I Launch Content Studio for Show Control? for more information
  2. In Content Studio, click the hub in the top left corner and select New if creating a new presentation or Open if adding Time of Day (TOD) to an existing presentation

  3. Once the canvas you've selected is visible, navigate to the Insert Tab on the Content Studio toolbar. An icon for Time will be available

    1. There are 2 ways TOD can inserted onto the Canvas:
      1. The first is using preset formats available by selecting the Time icon and then choosing any of the available formats shown. This method displays time in 1 horizontal data field

      2. The second method is adding the time in individual components (hours, minutes, seconds, AM/PM). This is useful if you need to show TOD in a vertical or diagonal pattern to fit certain areas of your display or if you just want one specific part of the time.

  4. Once format, placement and any font alterations have been made, save the presentation and create a button in Display Studio to play the content. Follow Display Studio: How do I Create Scripting Buttons? if more information is needed on creating buttons

Note: Time of Day will always appear on the canvas as 10:59 PM and if using military time, 22:59. The seconds will always show as 59 and the AM/PM indicator will always be PM. These are just placeholders to help with sizing and spacing. As long as the TOD is set correctly on the DMP-8000 or DMP-7000, the time will show correctly on the display. Follow How to set your time and time zone to correct your computer's clock if needed
