Sports Wire 4000: How do I setup and edit an output
Topic
- How to create an output in Sports Wire 4000?
- How to edit an existing output in Sports Wire 4000?
Environment
- Product: Sports Wire 4000 (SWI4K)
- Components: Stats CPU
- Control System:
Steps
- Launch Sports Wire
- After selecting the correct sport driver and setting up commands for scores or fantasy stats, an output can be created or edited if one already exists
- From the Sports Wire start screen, click the Outputs tab
- Double-click an available port (or an existing port), and the Configure Output window will appear
- To enable to the port, check Enabled
- Enter a name for the output port
- Select an output type:
- Scores - Enhanced RTD (most common) - is used to communicate with a Daktronics display controller
- Scores - Multi-drop Protocol - is used to communicate with a numeric display
- Messages - outputs game notes only
- Expanded Scores - Enhanced RTD - offers more scoring and statistical information than the standard Scores output
- Fantasy Baseball - Enhanced RTD - outputs fantasy batting and pitching stats
- Fantasy Baseball (by game) - Enhanced RTD - outputs fantasy stats one player at a time, sorted by game
- Fantasy Football - Enhanced RTD - outputs fantasy passing, kicking, receiving and rushing stats
- Select the proper Display Settings. In most cases you'll select one command per frame
- Select the number of Games (or Total Leader Records) to show per command
- Select the Hold Time (in seconds). Hold time determines how long to display games before switching to the next set of games (or leaders)
- Under the Choose Data for this Output, select the applicable commands you created
- Once these settings are configured, click Port next to the output name
- From General in the left menu, click the Enable check box and enter the Name given to the Output and from the Type drop down box, select UDP/IP
- From the menu on the left, select the UDP Settings based on the chosen port type:
- For a UDP port, enter 20000. If you are already using 20000 as an output, increase the number by 1
- Leave the Output as Broadcast
- In the Protocol List from the left menu, check Standard/Enhanced RTD
- Click Apply then Finish
- Click OK on the Edit Port screen
- Your Outputs tab should now look like the following:
Note: If everything is working properly, the green indicator beside the port number will flash when data is sent. For example, if the Hold Time is set to "10", it will flash every 10 seconds. The indicator will turn red when the port is disabled/closed - To monitor the output, select your configured output port from the Diagnostics tab beneath the outputs tab. Wait a few seconds and data should appear based on your configured settings. In this case, we set Sports Wire to show 4 OOT games at a time in step 11, so we see the scores from 4 finished games
Additional Notes
If multiple output ports are needed to show the same kind of information, for example, showing 2 OOT games on the Ribbon but 4 OOT games on the Aux displays, then multiple OOT profiles will need to be made for content studio so that the data fields are referencing the correct Sports Wire output ports and settings. To create new profiles in Content Studio, follow the How to Configure the Profile Editor KB for instructions.
