6000 Processor: How do I backup and restore configuration in the DI-6000 or VP-6000 through the user interface

Topic

  • backup and restore configuration in the DI-6000 or VP-6000 through the user interface

Environment

  • Product: 6000 series processors version 20 or greater
  • Components: user interface, flagged
  • Control System: Show Control Systems

Create and Restore Configuration Backup is ideal for setting up a system with primary/backup processors.  It is preferred to create a configuration backup after maintenance or seasonal checks. A configuration backup contains everything required to restore configurations (the directory /etc/kadoka/config)

Steps

Create a backup configuration

  1. Access the desired processor.
  2. Click on the Configuration Backup icon.
  3. Click on Create Configuration Backup.
    • This will download a backup file (hostname_fwVersion_date-time.kcb)

This .kcb file is not intended to be edited after creation. It is intended to be uploaded through the restore button only. If modifications will need to be made to the configuration, it is best to grab the individual config files instead (/etc/kadoka/config) or make the changes through the web interface after uploading/restoring the backup .kcb configuration file.

Restore a backup configuration

  1. Access the desired processor.
  2. Click on the Configuration Backup icon.
  3. Click on Restore Configuration Backup.
    1. Select the desired backup file (hostname_fwVersion_date-time.kcb)
    2. Read the popup and select your desired option.

If restoring a configuration from the primary to the backup processor, choose Keep Current and make any other desired changes using the UX. This keep the identity and network settings as they are and replace all the other configuration information.
If restoring a configuration from the primary onto new hardware that will function as the primary, it is best to Overwrite.
