Indoor scoreboard buzzer horn is too loud; Horn setting higher than desired

Potential Symptoms

  • The buzzer horn in the gym is too loud and we are getting complaints.
  • The horn sound is too loud and annoying, even when the room is filled with people.
  • Gym is too small for such a loud buzzer.

Cause

  • Horn setting is higher than desired.

Resolution

  • Adjust horn volume using hex head set screw on face of the horn in models that have this available. (See: How do I turn down the horn volume on an indoor scoreboard?)
    • Note: It is always best to consult the manual of the scoreboard to verify the horn volume is adjustable.  Scoreboard manuals can be found here. As a general rule the 120 Vac buzzer horn is adjustable but the 12Vdc horn (sounds like a fog horn) is not.
