Unable to communicate to the display; USB to Ethernet adapter is disabled

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to communicate to the display, attempt to get status fails immediately.
  • Unable to ping the display.
  • If Ethernet Bridge Radios (EBR) are in use, the Venus 1500 troubleshooter does not find either radio.
  • During boot up of display, see "ETH: no link" and/or "MLC0: ERR".

Environment

  • Product: Galaxy, GalaxyPro, GPR, GP3, GP4 
  • Component: D-Link, USB to Ethernet adapter
  • Control System: Venus 1500 V4

Cause

  • The USB to Ethernet adapter is Disabled.

Resolution

  1. In Windows, navigate to Network Connections by typing ncpa.cpl into the start menu search bar and hitting 'Enter' on your keyboard.
  2. Find the network adapter associated with your USB to Ethernet adapter.
    • If you are not sure, physically unplug the adapter from the computer and see which network adapter changes or disappears.
  3. Right-click on network adapter and select Enable.
    • If adapter will not enable, reboot computer.
