Display Showing "Error: Invalid... Entering Rescue... grub rescue...", Failed DMP

Potential Symptoms

  • DMP-5050 offline in Venus Control Suite (VCS).
    • Dashboard is showing "Communication error".
  • No access to DMP web configuration page.
  • Not able to ping DMP from VIP.
  • VIP monitor tile and display showing a portion of an error:

  • Full error: "Error: invalid arch-independent ELF magic. Entering rescue mode... grub rescue>"

  • Product Family: Message Displays, Billboards
  • Product: GS6, GC6, Billboard
  • Component: DMP-5050
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • Unknown. Failed DMP - Potential DMP not booting to proper partition.

Resolution

  • Replace the DMP.

For Temporary Operation

  • Power cycle the display physically from the breaker.
    • If issue is not resolved by power cycling display, the controller should be replaced.
