FLXR3, one or more subscriber units not connecting, antennas too close
Potential Symptoms
- One or more subscriber units are not connecting to the server radio but subscriber unit ID numbers and transmission power are set correctly in the web interface.
Environment
- Product Family: Digit and Price Displays
- Product: FL-3000/3100
- Component: FLXR3 Radios
- Control System:
Cause
- FLRX3 radio antennas are mounted too close together.
Resolution
- Reconfigure installation so that distance between server radio antenna and subscriber unit antenna is more than 25ft apart.
For Temporary Operation
If in a situation where relocating the antennas is not an option (e.g. subscriber unit on the canopy is already at max distance from the server radio antenna and relocation is impossible) follow these steps for an attempted work around:
- If applicable determine the distance of any other subscriber unit from the server antenna. If there are no other subscriber units or the other subscriber units do not require full transmission power from the server antenna, continue with the steps below. If there is a monument or pylon that is nearing max distance of the radios (max distance is 2 miles with direct line of sight or 500ft through 6 walls), call into Daktronics Tech Support for a resolution.
- Lower the dBm one step at a time and follow How to collect RSSI data from the FLXR3 radios, DD3414185 to determine if all subscriber units still have RSSI within accepted levels.
- If lowering the dBm one step does not resolve the issue but does not effect the RSSI of any additional subscriber units, continue lowering step by step while following the guide listed in step 2 to ensure all RSSI values are acceptable.
- Once all RSSI levels are acceptable, confirm communication.
