Unable to connect to GS6 in VCS, Incorrect static IP

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to connect to the display in VCS.
    • Communication Failure, or Communication Error on the Dashboard.
  • DMP and VIP are offline in VCS.
  • Display went offline right after IT made changes to the network, or never connected at all.
  • IP address on display's boot up does not match IP address being used on the network.
  • Unable to ping out an outside or local network IP address from the VIP network configuration page.

  • Component: VIP with static IP address or DHCP
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite (VCS)

      Cause

      • The VIP's static IP address is not in range of the IP scheme used by the network.
        • The IP address assigned may not be within the correct subnet, even though it looks like it matches.
