Environment
Scripting is the recommended method to play messages if operating multiple signs. Scripting will allow a message to be played, windows to open and close, communication to the V-Link, and many other options.

Steps
1. Create a Scripting Page if a New One is Needed.
1. Open the Venus 7000 Shell; click Display. The V7Dsply window opens. Access the scripting pages from this location.
2. Click View > Configure Pages. Click the drop-down arrow next to Group Filename and click Default.
3. Click the 1 in the Page column. Click the Add New Page button. Give the page name by typing something in the Page Name text box. Click OK. The Properties for Test window opens.
4. Click the drop-down arrow next to Page Type and click Scripting. Confirm the number of Rows is 10 and the number of Columns is 5. Click OK.
5. Click the Close button. Click the new button on the top of the screen to open the scripting page just created.
2. Script a Message to Play through Primary and Backup System
1. Open the Venus 7000 Shell; click Display. The V7Dsply window opens. Access the scripting pages from this location. Select the Scripting Page you want to work with.
2. Right-click an empty cell. Click Edit Cell. Type the name of the file in the Script text box. Click OK. Right-click the button and click Edit Script File. The Select Scripting Command window opens.
3. Click Add Line. Click RTDPlaySequence. Click Next.
4. Type "16" in the Select RTD Port text box. Click Next. The Enter RTD Options window opens.
5. Enter the correct sign number for the sign. Click the drop-down arrow next to Display Mode. Click Continuous/# of Times. If a warning message appears, click OK. Leaving the number of times at 0 will have the message play continuously. Click the Browse button. If a warning message appears, click OK. Navigate to a sequence created earlier for the sign and double-click on it. Click Next. Click Finish.

Script to Control Multiple Displays to Play the Same File Name
RTDPlaySequence utilizing sign 0 will allow a sequence or AVI to play to all signs with the specified library and sequence name. A time saver is to create the library structure prior to creating any messages. If the libraries for each sign size are labeled the same it will become useful when utilizing the Sign 0. Examples include: Sponsors, Headshots, Team, Pregame, Post-game, Announcements, and Stats. As content is loaded into the computer verify .AVI names correlate to allow the same messages for various sizes to play using the RTDPlaySequence command Sign 0.
1. Right-click a cell; click Edit Cell. Type "Welcome_All" in the Script text box. Click OK. Right-click the button and click on Edit Script File. The Edit Script window opens.
2. Add Line. Click RTDPlaySequence. Click Next.
3. Type "16" in the Select RTD Port text box. Click Next. The Enter RTD Options window opens.
4. Enter "0" for the Sign Number. When the Sign Number is set to zero, it sends out a broadcast command to all configured displays.
5. Click the drop-down arrow next to Display Mode. Click Continuous/# of Times. If a warning message appears, click OK. Click the Browse button. If a warning message appears, click OK. Navigate to a sequence created earlier and double-click it. Make sure the sequence library and name are the same for all configured displays. Click Next. Click Finish.
6. Click Close. Right-click the Welcome_All button and configure a category for the button. Click the button to view the active script.
Script a Sign to Blank
Blanking the signs is an option to stop all messages from playing on the display. A copy of the blank script should be located on each scripting page for fast and easy location by the operator during an event. By specifying the sign number vs. utilizing sign 0 it will guarantee the correct signs are blanked. Each scripting page may have multiple variations of signs blanking to allow for various scenarios during an event.
1. Open the Venus 7000 Shell; click Display. The V7Dsply window opens. Access the scripting pages from this location. Select the Scripting Page you want to work with
2. Right-click an empty cell. Click Edit Cell. Type "Blank" in the Script text box. Click OK.
3. Right-click the button and click Edit Script File. The Select Scripting Command window opens.
4. Click Add Line. Click RTDBlankSign. Click Next.
5. "16" in the Select RTD Port text box. Click Next. The Enter RTD Options window opens.
6. Enter the correct sign number for the sign. Click Next. Click Finish.
Common Scripting Commands
- PlaySequence: sends a sequence to play at the local computer.
- RTDPlaySequence: sends a sequence to the primary and backup computer via the network through a configured RTD input.
- RTDOpenWindow: opens and closes windows through a configured RTD input.
- RTDBlankSign: stops all messages from playing on a specific sign
- RTDPause: pauses all content and actions for a display until a RTDResume or content is played to the display.
- IncludeScript: references a script within another script.
- SendCalibrationFile: sends the appropriate calibration file to the display(s).
- VLSetInput: specifies the video input.
- VLSetSource: sets the data source (Venus, Video, Overlayed and Chroma).
- VLSetViewableArea: sets a viewable area for video.
- VLSetWindowArea: sets a window area for video.
- VLTransXFade4: V-Link fades transition for the open video window.
