SmartLink Relay #1 not power cycling the ISP, K1 relay in power entrance box not cycling properly

Potential Symptoms

  • Turning off and on relay #1 on the SmartLink does not power cycle the ISP box.
  • SmartLink shows commands going through correctly in the command log.
  • R1 relay in the power entrance box is not cycling.
  • Do not lose ISP/internet connection when relay 1 is cycled.

Cause

  • Heater fan drawing more current than the K1 relay can handle, causing the relay to stick in running state and will not cycle.

Resolution

  • Contact Daktronics to order kit 0A-1690-8006 - This kit will have a larger replacement K1 relay (A-3812), and also instructions on how to install the relay. Also this kit has a heater conversion cable, removing the heater power from the ISP Box and moving it to a open circuit in the break panel.

    1. Power down the power entrance box with the CB3 breaker
    2. Remove the old K1 relay
    3. Install the new larger K1 relay
    4. Install the heater wiring for the heater conversion kit
    5. Power back on the power entrance box with CB3 breaker
    6. Once everything is powered back send a reboot command to each relay to verify everything cycles normal again.
