Content Studio will not open up, Firewall blocking Content Studio from launching

Potential Symptoms

  • Content Studio will not open up.
  • Content Studio opens but then gives error window, and needs to close. 
    • Get error: "Content Studio by Daktronics has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
  • No error entry in Nucleus or Content Studio logs.
  • Venus 1500 opens fine and connects to display.

Cause

  • Firewall is blocking Content Studio from launching.

Resolution

  • Disable firewall or add exception to allow Content Studio to run.
    • Location: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall\Allowed Programs  Select "change settings" and "allow another program" (you may need admin rights to perform this)
    • Then you may need to "Browse" to the correct file location, and add that item. Do the same for the remainder items.
      • The following items should all be added for full functionality of Venus as a whole:
      • Content Studio By Daktronics "C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Content Studio\ContentStudio.exe"
      • Daktronics Fusion "C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Fusion\FusionShell.exe"
        • If the folder above does not exist, use C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Fusion
      • Daktronics Nucleus Server "C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Nucleus Server.exe"
      • Venus 1500 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Venus 1500 V4\Venus1500.exe"
    • Select OK, once all the items have been added and selected.
  • Re-open Venus 1500 and test Content Studio operations, create new, or edit.
