Display Studio: Error "Unable to retrieve workspaces from database", Corrupt database

Potential Symptoms

  • Display Studio crashes on launch.
  • Client server sync utility also crashed.
  • Error message "Unable to retrieve workspaces from database".

Environment

  • Display Studio 1.26.0.55 (other versions may apply)

Cause

  • Corrupt database.

Resolution

  1. Confirm all three Windows Firewalls are off on all client and server machines.
  2. Verify that the C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics and C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server aren't compressed indicated by blue folder and file names (Similar to Nucleus service failing to start, Compressed files or Database needs repair. ).
  3.  Uncompressed those two folders and restart the computer
  4. Load a backup or new nucleus database using the Nucleus Database Utility.
