Display Studio: When adding a display in Display Studio, receive a "No Response" error: database corruption

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to add a display in service configuration in Show Control.
  • When adding a display in Display Studio, receive a "No Response" error or message or shows a red X in newer version when clicking on "Check."
  • Clearing sign memory and running a memory defrag via M2Config make no difference.
  • Repairing software or reinstalling plugins have no effect.

Environment

  • Product: M3 display (AF-3500, AF-3550), New install
  • Component: M3 Plugin installed
  • Control System: Display Studio/SCS (any version)

Cause

  • Database corruption.

Resolution

Clear out the database by running the Nucleus Database Backup Utility:

  1. Close out of Display Studio and Content Studio.
  2. Navigate to the utility located in:
    1. Start >> All Programs >> Daktronics folder >> Utilities folder >> Nucleus Database Utility.
    2. Alternate Locations:
      1. 32 Bit Systems: C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Database Utility.
      2. 64 Bit Systems: C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Database Utility.
  3. Click on New.  (May wish to export any content or messages as per Content Studio: How do I save a presentation on one computer and transfer to another computer?  that you wish to transfer over to new database before clicking on new).
  4. Given that this a new install and no messages/signs have been added, the current database does not need to be backed up.
  5. Wait for this to finish.
  6. Re-launch Display Studio.
  7. Try adding the M3 display via IP address again.
