When installing Venus 1500 v4.18 or greater the computer restarts randomly in the middle of install
Potential Symptoms
- When installing Venus 1500 v4.18 or greater the computer restarts randomly in the middle of install with out any restart prompt.
- When installing update to Venus 1500 v4.18 or greater, the software did not update and is still at the original version.
- When looking for Venus 1500 v4 on the computer it did not install and no Venus 1500 shortcut.
Environment
- Venus 1500 v4.18+
- Venus 1500 setup ran directly from site and not saved to computer
Cause
It is believed to be caused by a Windows C++ redistribute file that needs to be installed for the Data Server and Fusion Service and requires a computer restart. Because the Data Server and Fusion installer are blind installers the prompt to restart is not given and the installer automatically does a computer restart.
When the setup is saved to the computer and ran, and the restart happens, Venus 1500 setup will start over again and install Venus 1500.
If the installer is ran directly from the website and not saved to the desktop or computer before running, the restart of the PC will not restart the Venus 1500 v4 installer. Venus 1500 will have to be re-downloaded and ran the installer again.
Resolution
- Follow How do I update or download Venus 1500 v4 software? DD1993540 and choose Save or Save as before running the setup.
- Google Chrome and FireFox should automatically save the setup files in the defaulted download location.
