Show Control System: Display Studio Status Error red, Folder not found caused by Disk Data

Environment

  • Control System: Display Studio 1.18 on Windows XP; Display Studio on Windows 10

Cause

  • For Windows XP machines, simple file sharing is turned on.
  • For Windows 10 machines, IPV6 is enabled in network adapter settings   

Resolution

For Windows 10 Machines:

Set the preference for IPv4 over IPv6 in prefix policies.  This process is described here: Display Studio: System Crashes with Button Use; IPv6 Enabled

The File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks box will also need to be checked in Ethernet Properties.


For Windows XP Machines:

  1.  Open up My Computer and go to Tools.
  2. Under tools click on Folder Options.
  3. Select the View tab and scroll down.
  4. Uncheck simple file sharing.
  5. This should switch the sharing options of the C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Server from.

  6. Click on Permissions.

  7. Allow everyone to have full permissions for C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Server.
 

    For Temporary Operation

    For Windows 10 Machines:

    1. Go to Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings
    2. Right-click on the ethernet adapter connected to the network and select Properties
    3. Uncheck box next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
    4. Click OK

    Note: You may also want to check to make sure the Disk Data folder is shared to Everyone with Full Control on Windows 10 machines in addition to the IPv6 disabling.
