Potential Symptoms

  • Receive alert "'.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1" When publishing messages in V4 Venus.

Environment

  • Galaxy Displays
  • Venus 1500 Version 4

Cause

  • There is a corrupt message stored in the controller memory.

Resolution

  1. Write down the messages currently published to the display in Venus 1500 from the schedule tab.
  2. Clear memory and reset. For assistance, follow How do I clear the display memory in Venus 1500 v4?, DD2078733.
  3. Defragment controller memory, follow How to perform a memory cleanup or defrag of the display memory using V4, DD3002301.
  4. Open Schedule tab, make any adjustments to the schedule as needed and re-publish.
  5. If issue is still present, repeat steps 2-3 and then on Step 4, send only 1 message to sign at a time to determine which message may be corrupt.
  6. Once corrupt message is determined, delete that message from schedule, re-create it in the Content Studio, and then publish newly created message to sign.
