Creating the Overlay Backgrounds

Before you can create the script buttons, you will need to have the overlay background colors created, see Venus 7000: How do I create background colors for overlay mode for steps on making those images.

Creating the Script Buttons
  1. In the V7000 Shell, click on the Display button.
  2. In the V7Display window that opens click on the Scripts button near the top left of the window.
  3. Right-click on an empty cell and select Edit Cell.
    • If there are no empty cells, you can either make the scripts page have more cells or create a new script page by going to View>Configure Pages.
  4. In the Script field at the bottom of the Select Script File, enter the name of the script and select OK.
  5. The name of the script should be descriptive for the end user, if the script will output Visiconn content from the V-net to the display, title the button Visiconn, if it is for video from the Interactive Rack, title it Interactive Rack
  6. Right-click in your newly named cell and select Edit Script File.
  7. In the Edit Script window, click on Add Line.
  8. Scroll down and highlight the "VLSetSource" line and click next.
  9. Select the proper sign by clicking on the Select Sign button and selecting the proper sign, click Next.
    • If this script will control more than one display or face, you will need to add a separate line for each.
  10. Select OVERLAYED, click next.
  11. Preview the script line, click next to add the line to the button.
  12. Click the Add Line button again to add the next script line.
  13. Highlight "PlaySequence" and click Next.
  14. Select the proper sign, click Next.
  15. Click on the Select Path button and browse to the specific color background for this channel and input that you created from the steps above, click Next.
  16. By default the mode should be Continuous, this is the proper mode, click Next.
  17. The next page will show you how the command line will look, click Finish to add the line to the script.
    • If you need to control additional displays or faces, repeat the steps 7-17 per face.
  18. Once all of the lines are added, click Close in the Edit Script Window.
  19. If you would like to add color background to the script button, right-click on the button and select Category and select the desired color.
  20. With the display in Overlay Mode, left-click on your newly created scripts to test them.  If you see the color on the display rather than your video source, verify that your overlay color is the proper shade and that your settings in the VLink match, if they do you may need to slightly adjust both the image color and the VLink settings to fine a new color that will overlay properly.
