Potential Symptoms

When trying to import a video receive the following error: The video could not be opened due to a missing codec or the codec was not properly installed.

Environment

  • Venus 1500 v4
  • Display Studio v1.29

Cause

  • The video files being imported are not converted properly.

Resolution

  1. View accepted file formats for Venus 1500 V4, by referencing What are the requirements for creating animations or videos in Venus 1500 V3, V4, and Show Control Systems? .
  2. Convert the file to an Uncompressed AVI or a AVI with MPEG-4 Compression or a different compression option by following Venus 1500: How do you convert an animated GIF to work in version 4 / Content Studio? .
  3. Run a repair on Venus 1500 version 4.22 or Display Studio.
