DDM for Excel: Unable to open DDM Workbook, MS Office 2007 Visual Basic for Application not installed.

Potential Symptoms

  • Error when opening DDM worksheet
  • Error message: "Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content. This workbook has lost its VBA project, ActiveX controls and any other programmability-related features"
  • Error message: "The customization assembly could not be found or could not be loaded. You can still edit and save the document. Contact your administrator or the author of this document for further assistance. "
  • If a repair of the software is attempted, it results in a fatal error

Cause

During the installation of MS Office 2007 Visual Basic for Application was not installed.

Resolution

  1. Click OK on error messages and close Excel.
  2. From the Control Panel choose Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Windows 7).
  3. Select Microsoft Office in the list and click on the Change button.
  4. Choose Add or Remove Features.
  5. Under Office Shared Features, select Visual Basic for Applications and set it to Run from My Computer. Click to continue.
  6. Re-launch the DDM worksheet.
