Dial-Up isn't an option when configuring display in Venus 1500 Version 4.19.2 and lower

Potential Symptoms

Dial-Up Communication is not an option or is grayed out in display configuration.

Environment

  • Product Family: Software; Message Displays
  • Product: Galaxy Message Display
  • Component: 56K Modem
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v4.19.2 and below

Cause

  • Modem was installed after software was started.
  • Modem hasn't been detected yet in V1500 Options

Resolution

If running Venus 1500 version 4.20 or higher see:  Updated to Venus 1500 v4.20 or greater and no longer can communicate to a Modem Display, DD2625896.
  1. Close Venus 1500 v4.
  2. Restart Services (How do I start/restart or stop the Daktronics Fusion and Nucleus Server and SQL Server? - DD2236444).
  3. Open Venus 1500 v4.
  4. Verify Dial up connection is an option in the sign configuration.

Or

  1. Open V1500 and click on the orange V in the upper left corner.
  2. Select V1500 Options.
  3. Select Modems.
  4. Select the refresh button.
  5. Verify Dial up communication is an option in sign configuration.
